Gomez 'Bring It On'

Published: 2004-09-02
British blues-rock band Gomez was one of the acts that were slated to play the ill-fated Lollapalooza festival. To make up for the cancelled dates, the six-piece embarked on their own tour of North America, making one stop in Canada. A very short amount of time has passed since then, but Gomez is already coming back to this continent for a series of performances.

This time around, the band has two Canadian dates, both in the western province of Alberta. Gomez's fall tour will kick off September 17th in Austin, Texas at the ACL Festival, finishing up with two dates in NYC on October 25th & 26th.

Although Gomez became a household name in Britain with their Mercury Music Prize winning debut album 'Bring It On', they have yet to see that kind of success this side of the Atlantic. But that hasn't stopped them from trying to win over the hearts of North Americans. Since that 1998 record the group has released four full-length albums.

With no less than three lead singers, Gomez has no trouble bringing variety to their albums. Their newest record 'Split The Difference' (released May 2004) has been well received by both fans and critics, spawning the singles 'Silence', 'Catch Me Up', and newest, 'Sweet Virginia'.

Gomez's upcoming Canadian dates:

October 01 Calgary – MacEwan Hall Ballroom
October 02 Edmonton – Red's
