Riding the Music

"The music is totally in charge of this whole ride," said Scottish born folk singer Alexi Murdoch after appearing at a festival in Philadelphia where people already knew his music.

More and more artists are choosing not to sign with major record labels in order to maintain some creative control over their music. Folk singer Alexi Murdoch turned down the offer of a major label that offered to make a full length CD. Murdoch feels that too many people who know nothing about music are involved in the creative process purely for economic reasons. Trends in current music by major labels seem to bear out Murdoch's opinion. Songs are bent, twisted, and tweaked by studio personnel in order to make the singer "look good" that a songwriter scarcely recognizes his own work afterwards.

Murdoch has a four song EP available on CD Baby – www.cdbaby.com
