Morrissey To Play Lone Date In Canada

Published: 2004-08-30
He's inspired countless numbers of people around the world, including some of today's hottest musicians. Both through his work with the Smiths and his solo career, Morrissey has become a musical icon. He's one of those enigmatic artists that people travel the world over to see perform live – which means it's a good thing he's bringing his show to Canada.

However, his show is coming to Canada for only one stop on his 22 date North American tour. Which consequentially still means a lot of travelling for those fans not lucky enough to be in Toronto on October 2nd. Just don't bring any glow sticks to the gig lest you be 'ejected from the venue' after that 8 hour bus ride.

Morrissey will be touring in support of his 2004 album 'You Are The Quarry'. His first full-length album in 7 years, 'You Are The Quarry' has been well received by both fans and critics alike. So far two singles have been lifted off of the record: 'Irish Blood, English Heart' and 'First of the Gang to Die'.

Like many other artists, Morrissey was shafted from the North American festival circuit when Lollapalooza 2004 was cancelled due to poor ticket sales. However, he still managed to keep his summer schedule full by performing at Glastonbury, and the Reading & Leeds Festivals. Moz was also scheduled to play the Festival Internacional de Benic‡ssim in Spain, but pulled out last minute due to plane troubles.

Morrissey's Canadian performance (sadly fannypacks are not included, but on the bright side, a full pat-down search is):

October 12 Toronto – Hummingbird Centre.
