The Stills Still Touring

Published: 2004-08-27
One of the biggest buzz bands to come from Canada this decade, the Stills are doing their best to live up to the hype. Part of that job entails endless touring, and the four-piece is up for the task. Following a European tour in September, the Stills will return to North America to play an eight day jaunt. Four of the dates will take place in Canada.

The Stills recently released the second single off of their debut album 'Logic Will Break Your Heart'. 'Lola Stars And Stripes' features the same forlorn sound as previous single 'Still In Love Song', but has a much more political message than its predecessor. In addition to putting 'Lola Stars And Stripes' out in North America, the band has re-released 'Still In Love Song' overseas. For a mixture of reasons the single fell under the radar of the whole of the British Isles.

The four members of the Stills all hail from Montreal, but they currently reside in and are essentially as New York as can be. So New York in fact, that the creators of 'The Sound of Young New York II' felt the need to include the quartet on their compilation, despite the fact that the band members are Canucks.

'Still In Love Song' is the Stills track that made it on to the compilation, although 'Lola Stars and Stripes' may have been a better choice as it's directed toward America and the video was actually filmed in New York. Oh well, each to their own. Other bands featured on the disc include dancehall rockers the Faint, punk-funkers !!! and indie band Elefant.

'The Sound of Young New York II' was released earlier this week on August 24th.

The Stills will be playing the following venues on these dates:

September 30 Ottawa – Capitol Theatre
October 01 London – Call The Office
October 02 Toronto – Mod Club
October 03 Hamilton – Underground
