Gary Beals Releases Debut Album

Published: 2004-08-23
The crop of finalists from the first season of Canadian Idol are showing this seasons group that you don't have to be the winner to be a success and make a living with music. On Tuesday August 17 Canadian Idol runner up Gary Beals became the fourth of the season one top 10 to release an album. Beals follows winner Ryan Malcolm, francophone Audrey, and Billy Klippert who appeared on the results show last Thursday.

Beals who grew up in Cherry Brook, Nova Scotia combines his gospel roots and influences of early soul masters like Sam Cooke, Otis Redding, and Percy Sledge to achieve his soulful sound.

Beals' self titled CD contains original songs co-written by Beals. The only cover tune on the album is Beals' version of Sarah McLachlan's 'Angel' which Beal's performed on the show last season.

Beals is being managed by Canadian Idol judge Farley Flex.
