Bruce Hornsby is back with 'Halcyon Days'

Published: 2004-08-19
During the 1980s you couldn't turn on a radio without hearing him and his piano. And while later he wasn't on the charts with a hit song, piano virtuoso Bruce Hornsby was never off of the music industry's radar screen. Over the years Hornsby and his piano have appeared on over 100 albums. He even spent time touring with The Greatful Dead.

Now Hornsby is back with a new album of his own. "Halcyon Days" displays Hornsby's distinctive piano playing on every track. Many of the songs on "Halcyon Days" were inspired by Hornsby's family. Bruce says that he is happy with his family life and being a dad to twin boys.

The first single from the new album is the radio friendly song "Gonna Be Some Changes Made". Hornsby jokes that the new album is Hornsby and the Brits. Sting, Eric Clapton, and Sir Elton John all make appearances on "Halcyon Days".

The native Virginian has another passion outside of music – basketball. Hornsby can brag that he beat a then teenage Allen Iverson in a game of one on one; not just once but by three games.
